Visualization Exercise #3: Framing

Today we had our third visualization exercise on framing.  I chose to do a floating frame, no frame, mounted on matte board, and a resin frame with crochet stitches going through it.  I have learned a very important lesson from this: Resin shrinks!  I think I might like to use a floating frame or shadowbox for my final pieces.  We also went around and titled each other's pieces.  Two of my favorites were "100% Angus Yarn" and "Untitled".  I feel that both of these speak to the overall message of the piece.  "100% Angus Yarn" because immediately, my eye reads "100% Angus Beef" and that is sort of the "ah ha" moment of realizing that it actually says yarn just like the same "ah ha" moment when you realize the photo is actually of a crocheted cheeseburger.  I like "Untitled" because I feel that the work is able to speak for itself and so naming each individual piece is hitting the viewer over the head with it.  It definitely gave me a lot to think about.
Till next time...
